- Are these real addresses?
- Yes. They're a random sample of address points that US counties, cities and states publish as open data, collected by the OpenAddresses project. Street types are standardized (Street → St), and every address is checked with the US Census Bureau geocoder, which also corrects the ZIP code when needed. Map autocomplete services like Google use their own data, so a few addresses may not show up there, especially new or rural ones.
- Why are big cities more common?
- Addresses are sampled in proportion to how many exist, so a large city shows up far more often than a rural area.
- Can I use them for deliveries or sign-ups?
- No. These are other people's homes and businesses. Use them to test address forms, maps and data pipelines, never to impersonate anyone or send anything.
- My address is listed. Can you remove it?
- Yes. See the privacy page for how to request removal.
