- Where do the names come from?
- First names come from US Census first-name frequency lists and surnames from the 2010 US Census, which covers about 90% of the population.
- How is gender decided?
- Names come from separate female and male lists. Choosing “Any” picks one of the two lists at random for each name.
- Why do some names look old-fashioned?
- The lists cover several generations of people alive today, not just recent baby names.
