- Where do the names come from?
- First names come from INSEE's register of names given to babies born in France since 1945, and surnames from INSEE's list of surnames of people born 1941–2000.
- How is gender decided?
- Names come from separate female and male lists. Choosing “Any” picks one of the two lists at random for each name.
- Why do some names look old-fashioned?
- The lists cover several generations of people alive today, not just recent baby names.
